Received 20 NOV 19

Government House,

Hongkong, 27th October, 1899.

Sir,

I have the honour to transmit for the signification of Her Majesty's pleasure the following Ordinance entitled:--

"An Ordinance to amend the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance, 1839." No.30 of 1899.

The customary Report by the Attorney General is annexed.

11:24 October 1899

Enclosure 2.

20th October 1899.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient

Humble Servant,

GOVERNOR, &c.

The Right Honourable

JOSEPH CHAMBERLAIN, M.P.

Page 1

Reenactment has been prepared on the general lines suggested, pointing out that the present method of dealing with this subject seems unsatisfactory and suggests that both ordinances should be repeated as a single ordinance.

Concern is felt locally that this cause & effect will meanwhile not be understood and be thoroughly examined.

The grounds might then be explained.

This advice will be taken instead of being informed from the age report.

I enclose this paper.
